Government funded clutch and gearshift project
Research Council of Norway funds R&D Project with MNOK 16
Research & Development (R&D) at the Kongsberg Automotive Tech Center in Kongsberg is pleased to announce the funding of a clutch and gearshift technology research project.
We are very pleased to receive this great recognition of our research processes in Kongsberg Automotive. The funding of NOK 16 Million is a valuable contribution for research and development of the next generation clutch and gearshift systems for commercial vehicles, said Vice President R&D Powertrain & Chassis, Ivar Haug
The project has the following three stages and objectives:
- The first stage is improving the ergonomics of the gear shifter to ease the shifting and thereby improve fuel economy
- The next is implementing advanced planning and tracking of traffic and typology to reduce emission footprint
- The third stage is developing solutions for implementing electronic and mechatronic manufacturing.
The governmental research funding program was established in 2006, and supports high-quality R&D projects with good business and socio-economic potential.
